Police nab Kidnappers who killed Medical Doctor, his friend and Son, after collecting N7.5million ransom;

Operatives of the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) on Monday paraded two kidnappers who are part of a deadly kidnap and who abducted Dr. Audu Benedict, his son, Iranu Audu a friend of the doctor, one Sumaila in Benue state while traveling to Abuja.

The kidnapping gang collected the sum of N7million from the family of the Doctor as ransom with a promise to release them. Another sum of N500,000 was also collected from Dr. Audu, yet the gang went ahead to kill all three of the victims.

Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Frank Mba who paraded the suspects in company of the Commander of IRT, DCP Abba Kyari named the members of the gang as Gwa Terkura Henry, David Etakpe and Terna who is at large.

Speaking to the media, David Etakpe who said he and his cohorts hailed from Katsina Ala in Benue state, said he and his gang kidnapped the doctor, his son and his friend and that the doctor wrote a cheque of N7million which we collected from Zenith bank, Gboko. We later collected another N500, 000 from the doctor.

Another kidnap gang from Benue state confessed that they kidnapped one Victoria Agbo who was killed after her family failed to pay a ransom of N2million noting that a member of the kidnap gang is a family member of Victoria Agbo.

The gang also kidnapped one Nike Francis and collected the sum of N500, 000 but did not kill Nike.

One of the kidnappers, Adakole Oguche disclosed that on 25th November 2019, the leader of the gang, Mathew Jerome brought the kidnapping job.

Robbery suspects

He said Victoria Agbo who is a relation of his, was killed because the family said they did not have the ransom money of N2million that was demanded.   

“Victoria is a family member who trained my younger sister from primary to secondary school. They (Terna) killed her because they said the family refused to pay the ransom money. She was buried in the forest near Terna’s place.

Speaking on the development, DCP Frank Mba said the leader of the gang, Mathew Jerome is camouflaging as a Youth Leader and Leader of the Vigilante group at Okpoku-Otukpo-Ogbadigbo axis in Benue state noting that he is responsible for many of the kidnappings and killings in Benue state.

“He has been arrested and detectives have gone out with him on an operation to arrest other suspects who are members of his gang, in other cases.

Mba said that Gana, the wanted Benue kidnap and robbery kingpin and Terna, are both wanted in connection with the kidnap and murder of Dr. Audu adding, “Your days are numbered. The Police will get you and bring you to justice”.

Also paraded are an armed robbery gang who specialize in breaking into houses and robbing household items including flat screen TVs, fridges, and telephones.

Leader of the 6 man gang, Gambo Isa aged 30 years said the gang has been operating in Abuja for 5 years and that he has lost count of the number of houses they have broken into.

He said the AK 47 rifle recovered from him was gotten from one of the operations they undertook noting that monies from the items were used to buy Okada machines.

“But when I am broke, I sell the machines and we go for another robbery”.

A total of 27 suspects were paraded criminal activities committed in different parts of the country including murder, armed robbery, unlawful possession of firearms, kidnapping and other sundry offences.

Six AK 47 rifles, 3 Pump Action Guns and 7 other locally fabricated weapons were recovered from the criminals
