Police arrest 7 Armed Robbery/Kidnapping suspects terrorizing residents and travellers in Kogi state.

Operatives of the Kogi State Police Command have busted several armed robbery and kidnapping gangs terrorizing residents of the state as well as travelers ply highways.

DSP William Ovye Aya, Public Relations Officer of the command said this was as a result of the continuous onslaught against kidnapping, armed banditry and other heinous crime in the State noting that operatives attached to Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) Kogi State recorded the feat.


He said, “The crime prevention and control strategies adopted by the Command through intensive patrol, raids of identified criminal hideouts, as well as intelligence led to the arrest of ten (10) suspected criminal elements terrorizing the innocent people of the State.


(A) ARREST OF SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBERS


SUSPECTS: 1. IBRAHIM SALIU, 2. JIMOH YAKUBU, 3. ISAH USMAN


EXHIBITS:1. ONE LOCALLY MADE PISTOL2. ONE CUT TO SIZE LOCALLY MADE SINGLE BARREL GUN3. SEVEN LIVE CARTRIDGES4. SOME OF THE VICTIM PROPERTIES


On the 29/4/2020 at about 1100hrs, following a report received that some unknown armed robbers invaded and robbed some houses in Adavi and carted away their properties. 


The operatives promptly swung into action and arrested one Ibrahim Saliu of Etahi Village, Okene who has been terrorizing Okene and its environs.

Further investigation led to the arrest of the duo of Jimoh Yakubu and Isah Usman both if Okene.


 The suspects confessed to crime. Items recovered from them includes; one locally made Pistol, one cut to size locally made single Barrel gun, seven live cartridges and some the victims properties.


(B) . ARREST OF A SUSPECT WHO SPECIALIZED IN STEALING HAND SETS


SUSPECT:1. HASSAN ADEDOYIN BASHIRU


Consequent upon a report that some unknown thieves broke into their victim’s house at Female and carted away his Infinix Android Phone. 


The operatives attached to SARS swung into action and arrested one Hassan Adedoyin Bashiru of Agbaja Village, Female and recovered the stolen hand set from him.


(C). ARREST OF SUSPECTED RITUALISTS


SUSPECTS:1. MOHAMMED YAKUBU2. SEKPE SAMSON3. EMMANUEL GWATANA


EXHIBIT:1. HUMAN SKULL


Following a tip off on the activities of ritualists within Ajaokuta axis, the operatives attached to SARS through an intelligence led operations arrested the above suspects with a human skull. 


All the suspects will soon be arraigned in Court.
