The National Coordinator Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), CSP Ebere Amaraizu has expressed regret as the intended POCACOV/Sam Okwaraji memorial Tournament slated to have taken place on 12/8/2020 to mark the day the Nigerian Patriot and a team player slumped and died while on National Assignment at the National Stadium Surulere Lagos.
According to Amaraizu who also is the South East Zonal Director of the Nigeria Nationwide leagueone, Pocacov together with its stakeholders and Ambassadors like Mutiu (Headmaster)Adepoju and Maurine Mmadu have concluded modalities together with Match makers Consult International the owner of Nigeria Pitch Award as well as the Nationwidel eague one amongst others for a successful event.
“Unfortunately it did not take place due to the fact that lock down ocassioned by the outbreak of COVID-19 PANDEMIC leading to embargo on training ground facilities affected the memorial tournament which POCACOV had wanted to use to celebrate the Patriot and a team player and also to pass same patriotic and team playing message that he was known for to Nigerian children and Youths to enable them have that positive direction in their various field of endeavours.
Amaraizu however concluded by stating that the event would have been nice but I have to ensure the total compliance of Order of NO Football issued due to the outbreak of COVID-19 Pandemic until the situation improves.
Late Samuel Sochukwuma Okwaraji slumped and died in a 1990 World cup qualifier against Angola on August,12.1989 at the mainbowl of the National Stadium Surulere Lagos.
