Oyo REC visits GOC 2 Div, Nigerian Army; commends troops performance during elections

Barrister Mutiu Agboke the Resident Electoral Commissioner ( REC ) Oyo State and members of his entourage on Monday visited the General Officer Commanding ( GOC ) 2 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Okwudili Fidelis Azinta at the Headquarters 2 Division Nigerian Army, Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment, Ibadan.

The REC stated that the purpose of his visit was to thank the General Officer Commanding, officers and soldiers of the Division for their support in providing adequate security before, during and after the just concluded 2019 General Elections in Oyo State.

He said “The Army in Oyo state during the election performed their constitutional roles by providing adequate security and abided by the rules of engagement, accordingly, this gave room for hitch free election in the state”

Barrister Mutiu also urged all the Heads of security agencies in Oyo state to emulate the leadership style of General Officer Commanding 2 Division Major General OF Azinta by being professional in the discharge of their constitutional role.
He noted that “if every head of security agency can emulate General Azinta there will be little or no security threat in our state” he opined.

The General Officer Commanding 2 Division Nigerian Army Major General OF Azinta in his response thanked the REC and his entourage for finding time to pay visit to the headquarters 2 Division, and, appreciating the efforts of the Nigerian Army.

The GOC re-assured the REC and members of his entourage of the Division’s support in providing security in the state at all time, provided the commission is doing the right thing, in accordance to the constitution of the country.
