The Defence headquarters says more bandits migrating from military bombardments of the camps have met their Waterloo at the border crossing between Katsina and Kaduna states with two killed and many escaping with gunshot wounds after gunfight with troops.
Coordinator, Defence Military Operations, Major General John Enenche stated this on Sunday evening.
He said, “During blocking operations against interstate movement of Bandits and Cattle rustlers, troops of Operation Whirl Punch under Operation Accord on 7 June 2020 neutralized 2 bandits, while others fled with gunshot wounds at Tabani and Tashan Bawa (Border between Sabuwa LGA in Katsina State and Kuyello District in Birnin Gwari LGA of Kaduna State).
“Items recovered include one AK 47 rifle and 2 mobile phones.
“As a matter of security alert, people in the general area of Operation Accord, should report individuals with sudden and suspicious injuries to the security forces.
“This is to ensure that escapees are mopped up.
“The Military High Command congratulates Operation Whirl Punch for their commitment.
“While the general public is requested to continue to provide timely and credible information that is already yielding results.”
