Nigerian Army Special Forces Finally crush Notorious Kidnap Kingpin/Benue Gang Leader, Terwase Akwaza aka ‘Gana’.

The Nigerian Army last night recorded a major breakthrough in the fight against kidnapping, armed robbery and militia attacks in the North Central Zone of the country when it finally crushed the most wanted and notorious gang leader responsible for most of the killings in Benue and Taraba states, Terwase Akwaza popularly known as Gana.

The feat was achieved by Special Force of Command the Nigerian Army with headquarters in Nasarawa state, whose area of Operation cut across, the North Central States.

Confirmation of the elimination of Gana by a senior Military officer Tuesday night, followed intelligence which narrowed the deadly gang leader’d movement to the Katsina-Ala Township Stadium in Benue North LGA and his attempt to escape.

Recall that only a fortnight ago, the Special Forces Command, working in conjunction with Operation Whirl Stroke in the North Central Zone, stormed and smashed the recently astablished and upcoming Darulsalam terrorist sects who were operating in Toto in Nasarawa state and Koton Large in Kogi state where over 700 person’s including wives and children of Boko Haram members were arrested.

It was gathered that when troops who had been on his trail, following actionable intelligence and professional manuevers, closed in on the shocked Gana, he owned up, but claimed that he was preparing to surrender for an amnesty programme promised by the Benue state government.

Shortly after that, Gana who has always claimed invisibility, as several attempts by the Nigerian Police For e to arrest him, failed, made a dating attempt to escape but was gunned down by the vigilant and anticipatory Special Forces.

The notorious Terwase had been declared wanted severally by the Nigerian Police for killing several innocent citizens including Governor Samuel Ortom’s Special Assistant on Special Security, Denen Igbana.

The Benue State Government later placed a N10 million-naira bounty on him. He was so notorious that he was behind murderous activities of criminal gangs in Sankera geo – political zone comprising Ukum, Logo and Katsina Ala local government areas and the entire Zone A senatorial.

His gang undertook several armed robbery attacks and kidnappings for ransom both in Taraba, Benue and Nasarawa states while community leaders in several local government areas of Benue and Taraba states were said to abhor doing anything that would make them incur the wrath of Gana.

In 2015, following the announcement of a programme for Amnesty for all criminal elements to surrender their arms and ammunition and turn a new leaf, Terwase came out of the bush and surrendered some arms, was pardoned, before going back and becoming more deadly and daring.

This time, those that suffered his criminal onslaught included the Police, Traditional rulers, prominent persons of Benue, Kogi, Taraba and Nasarawa states while many travellers on the Katsina-Ala/Jalingo road axis became victims of his kidnap for ransom exploits.
