The Katsina State Police Command in separate operations against criminals in the state have arrested a fake Army officer who has been deceiving the public and committing criminal acts just as it announced the killing of an armed robbery suspect during a shoot-out with the police by his gang.
A statement by DSP Gambo Isah, the Public Relations Officer of the Command said on Arrest of Fake Soldier at Daura, “The Katsina state Command wishes to inform the general public that, on 7/09/2017 at about 3pm, it succeeded and arrested a fake soldier, one Bashir Raba Mohammed ‘m’ of Rijiya Lemu qrts, Kano state.
“The suspect went in full Army camouflage uniform to Central Police Station Daura with a Motorcycle Lifan and met the Divisional Police Officer with a request for a police report in respect of lost particulars of his Lifan motorcycle.
“The DPO became suspicious and made some background checks on the suspect.
“However, investigation revealed that, Bashir Raba Mohammed was actually not a military personnel but an imposter personating the Nigerian Military.
“Additionally, the suspect confessed to have been operating drug/Indian hemp syndicate, transporting same from Kano to Daura on his motorbike using the uniform as a shield. Suspect has been apprehended and investigation is ongoing into the matter”.
On the dead armed robber, Isah in a statement titled “Armed Robbers meet their waterloo as one was gunned down during shoot-out by police at Dandume LGA Katsina said, “Today being Wednesday 13th September 2017 at about 2am, armed robbers numbering about Eight (8) came out from Dajin Mari Forest Dandume, Katsina state and invaded the village of Tumburkai village, Dandume shooting sporadically trying to get access to the house of one Alhaji Sufiyanu.
“However, they were repelled by a team of mobile policemen deployed in the area which engaged the hoodlums on a gun duel.
“As a result of the shoot-out, one of the armed robbers was gunned down by the gallant police patrol team.”
