The Chairman, Senate Committee on Army, Senator Ali Ndume, APC, Borno South clarified on Tuesday night that he never called for the sack of Service Chiefs.
His words, “There was no way I would have asked President Muhammadu Buhari to sack the Service Chiefs knowing full well that at the moment, the Soldiers are not adequately funded and they are also ill-equipped”.
Ndume’s reaction followed the Senate’s position that the Service Chiefs should step aside because of the killing of Soldiers as well as the alleged resignation of over 200 soldiers.
Addressing Journalists on Tuesday, Ndume noted that his original motion did not ask for the sack of Service Chiefs because he was aware that the armed forces were grossly ill-equipped.
It was gatheted that Ndume’s original motion which did not contain the request for the sack of Service Chiefs, was amended by a Senator representing PDP, Osun East.
But at the end of the day, the whole Senate adopted the amendment without a single voice of dissent.
