The Force Secretary, AIG Usman Alkali Baba has commended the progress made so far by the Police Campaign Against Cultism and other Vices, (POCACOV) in the fight against cultism in the country.
AIG Alkali gave this commendation during his decoration at the Force Headquarter with POCACOV branded T-shirt.
He described POCACOV steady stride in the fight against cultism as a great effort and stated that Cultism was one of the crimes he fought headlong when he was the Commissioner of Police in Delta state.
The Force Secretary commended the Inspector General Of Police for the initiative and urged the leadership of POCACOV to continue the campaign, as he pledged his support and continued collaboration for POCACOV progarms.
AIG Usman Alkali Baba used the opportunity to call on all Nigerians, especially parents to support the initiative and emphasized that “we don’t need cultism at all and we need to eradicate it or reduce it to its bear less minimal”.
Similarly, a group, Youth Voice for Unity Forum, based in Abuja whose aim is to mobilize and foster Unity and peace among Nigerian Youth irrespective of religion, ethnicity amongst others across the 36 states including Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has identified with the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV); saying that the programme is right on time.
The group made their intention to partner with POCACOV Known through a letter to the IGP M.A Adamu Pocacov Resource Centre Enugu signed by its president, Obi Opara.
The group said “We stand with Nigeria Police Force on POCACOV, we thank the Inspector General of police, IGP M.A ADAMU on POCACOV initiative.
‘To us, POCACOV is a programme of the youth and for the youth and the good thing about the programme is that it is community driven and involving different stake holders in line with the principle of community policing and it is also problem solving and that is why we are identifying and standing for POCACOV.”
They also pledged their support for POCACOV to help reach out to the Nigerian Children and Youths through advocacy, awareness creation and sensitization, re-orientation amongst others and in line with POCACOV aims and objectives.
