Fighting Cultism: POCACOV Mobilizing  Nigerian Children/Youths toward shaping peace together

The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) the initiative of the Nigeria Police Force under IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu aimed at Saving Nigerian Children and Youths from the Claws of Cultism, Sexual and Gender Based Violence, Substance Abuse, Thuggery and other vices and achieving a safe and secured Nation at the IGP MA Adamu Pocacov Resource Centre Enugu is Mobilizing Nigerian Children/Youths for shaping peace together for national growth and development.

Towards this end,  National Coordinator (POCACOV), CSP Ebere Amaraizu said Pocacov is developing a module that will come up in various clusters aimed at mobilizing Nigerian Children and Youths for shaping peace especially as the international day for peace approaches come September, 21, 2020.

He noted that through the Pocacov Volunteer Club (PVC) of safer School/Community Partnership, Pocacov will be able to carry out Pocacov Youth Summit across the federation even after September, 2020 .

“We are planning even beyond the celebration of international day for peace but we are anchoring on the theme of this years celebration captioned Shaping peace Together. We must continue to strenghten the ideals of peace devoid of violence. We must propagate the culture of peace,, putting aside cultural, religious, social and ethnic differences.

“We need to shape peace together by spreading compassion, kindness and hope to our children and youths which they in turn will radiate to the Nigerian society thus achieving national peace and development even in the midst of the COVID-19 Pandemic.


“Pocacov will be working with different stakeholders, Development Partners, Ministries,Department and Agencies (MDAs) , Faith Based Organization, Community Based Organizations, Government and Non Governmental Organization amongst others to carry out this responsibility of Mobilizing Nigerian Children and Youths towards shaping peace together.


He said a survey carried out by the IGP M.A Adamu Pocacov Resource Centre Enugu revealed that most children/youths that usually get involved in cultism, Thuggery, Violence, Substance Abuse and other vices, do so due to lack of enough sensitization, Awareness Creation, Advocacy and Re orientation and these are the areas of Coverage of Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices(POCACOV). 


The Module is cutting across Sex Education Programmb(S.E.P) as well as emphasis on the restorations of cultural values and the strong African tradition which stipulates that ‘Every Child is Everybody’s Child’ irrespective of whether they are the biological parents or not as this enables exercise of strict supervision  of Children and Youths.
