Operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in a series of raids on hoodlums and their hideouts, have smashed a robbery gang terrorizing Warri, Ughelli, Agbarho, Abraka and other areas and in the process arrested robbery suspects recovered dangerous arms and ammunition.
Consequent upon the raids, the SARS operatives arrested the gang members who killed a businessmanhe and his pregnant wife as well as two police officers attached a Escorts to the businessman.
Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Hafiz Inuwa confirmed the arrest of the suspects and recovery of arms hidden in the bushes close to a community with which suspected person’s of the community attack their neighbours.
The CP said, ‘”In furtherance to the trail of armed robbers that have been terrorizing Warri, Ughelli, Agbarho, Abraka and others, SARS operatives successfully arrested some suspects on Tuesday 9th June 2020.
The suspects are Emmanuel Onome aka Kekere, aged 25years of Okparabe community, Destiny Akpojovi aged 22years of Okoara Inland community in Ethiope East and Andrew Defemisan aged 32 years of Oviri Olomu community in Ughelli South local government.
Afer the operatives searched their houses, one G3 rifle with 12 rounds of ammunition was recovered from Emmanuel Onome aka Kekere, while a master key was recovered from Andrew Ademisan.
On interrogation, the suspects confessed to many armed robberies committed around Warri and Ughelli, including the recent one at Okokolo, where two Police officers from SPU Base 5, their principal and his pregnant wife were killed.
The CP noted that further investigation in ongoing with a view to arresting all other members of the gang and recovering all arms in their stocks.
Similarly, operatives of Delta SARS, while investigating a case of unlawful possession of firearm transferred from Ashaka division, against Ogbetim Community, stormed the community.
During a search, one G3 rifle two Pump Action guns and one single barrel gun were recovered hidden in the bushes near the community.
