COVID 19: Immigration CG directs officers to strictly implement FG order on ban of International flights & Closure of all borders.

Comptroller General of Nigerian Immigration Service, Muhammad Babandede directed officers and men of the service adhere strictly to the Federal government’s order for restriction of International flights and closure of Land, Air and Sea borders within the stipulated period.


The CGI however warned that Immigration officers should exhibit high level emotional intelligence and be discreet as they go about this national assignment at the Land, Air and Sea border frontiers and Interior of the country.

Speaking through an ‘Operational Order for NIS Operatives’ in Abuja released by DCI Sunday James, Public Relations Officer, on Saturday March 28, 2020, he said, “This is an extra-ordinary time in the history of the world.


‘Nigeria is not an isolation, as the first agency to have contact with  international travelers and the citizens when leaving or coming into the Country at any of the entry or exit points, our role is very significant and strategic to the success of curbing human mobility and the fight against the spread of Corona Virus.


“The Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service Muhammad Babandede enjoin all the Officers and men of the service to be more discreet, firm, fair, humane and conscious of the state of the nation and the expectation of the public. 

“We are the first line of action when it comes to the control and management of human mobility, dealing with human beings may not be easy at this time, our officers and men are advise to exercise restrain in the discharge of their duties, they should exhibit high level emotional intelligence and be discreet as they go about this national assignment at the Land, Air and Sea border frontiers and Interior of the country.


“The Officers and men are therefore advised to be highly professional and receptive, while adhering strictly to the Federal Government directives for restriction of International flights and closure of Land Border within the stipulated period.


“The Service will continue to do its best by serving our publics in best way possible.”
