COVID 19: Delta Police arrest Imam for Violating Order on Public Gatherings.

For assembing hundreds of Muslim worshippers for Friday prayers against the order banning crowd gathering, to prevent the spread of Corona virus, Delta State Police Command has arrested a recalcitrant Imam

 Commissioner of Police, CP Hafiz Inuwa confirmed the arrest to SecurityKing News even as he said the arrest of Imam Mohammad Young Okotie took place at Ekpakpamne, Otu Jeremi in Ughelli South LGA.

“When I heard what the Imam did, endangering the lives of so many people, I immidiately ordered his arrest. This is against what both Federal and state governments have been warning against”, the CP said

Vowing that the Imam willl be prosecuted as he has directed that he be taken to court, CP Inuwa said  he flagrantly defied the stay-at-home and social distancing order of the state government and led hundreds of Islamic faithful in congregational Jum’at service.

 Okotie was arrested by the Police after he led hundreds of Muslim faithful, and held Jumat service at the Ekakpamre Central Mosque in Ughelli South Local Government Area, thereby violating the prohibition on gatherings in the state,

Iman Okotiee who was arrested about 11am on Friday, May 1, currently held at the Otu-Jeremi Police Station and be prosecuted according to the law.
