Campaign Against Cultism and other vices: POCACOV take campaign to Scripture Union camp ground 

The Police Campaign Against Cultism and other vices (POCACOV ) on Saturday 1/8/2020 took the campaign to the Scripture Union students /youths summit ground  at first baptist church play ground Uwani Enugu .

The  students/youths summit tagged Scripture Union (Nigeria) 2020 students/Youths Summit with the theme: Stay On Track were organized by Uwani zone of the Enugu Area of Scripture Union Nigeria.

Addressing participants  under the strict observance of NCDC  protocols and measures, the National coordinator POCACOV, CSP Ebere Amaraizu gave the overview of the POCACOV campaign  and pointing out that time has come for our children/youths to know whom their best friends are and the message their best friend are bringing to them.

He charged them to always ‘Stay on Track’ in the midst of any antics to deceive or coerce them to join cult group or any criminal gang or any act capable of endangering their health and ruining their future, pointing out that POCACOV is a community driven programme structured by the Nigeria police force under IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu to work with different stakeholders in line with the principles of community oriented policing.

He also thanked the organizers, describing them as partners in progress.

Some participants who spoke after the programme, thanked the inspector General of police IGP Mohammed for the POCACOV programme going on around  Nigeria  and in the world.

Meanwhile, the POCACOV initiative of the Nigeria Police Force under IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu is  developing a Module at the IGP MA Adamu Pocacov Resource Centre Enugu on Mobilizing Nigerian Children/Youths For Shaping Peace Together for National Growth and Development.

National Coordinator Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) CSP Ebere Amaraizu, Pocacov said the module will come up in various clusters aimed at mobilizing Nigerian Children and Youths for shaping ‘Peace Together’ especially as the international day for peace draws approaches come september, 21, 2020.

Through Pocacov Volunteer Club (PVC) of safer School/Community Partnership, Pocacov will be able to carry out Pocacov Youth Summit across the federation even after september, 2020.

“We are planning even beyond the celebration of international day for peace but we are anchoring on the theme of this years celebration captioned Shaping peace Together.

“We must continue to strenghten the ideals of peace devoid of violence.We must propagate the culture of peace,putting aside cultural, religious, social and ethnic differences. 

“We need to shape peace together by spreading compassion, kindness and hope to our children and youths which they in turn will radiate to the Nigerian society thus achieving national peace and development even in the midst of the COVID-19 Pandemic”, he said.

Pocacov will be working with different stakeholders, Development Partners, Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs), Faith Based Organization , Community Based Organizations, Government and Non Governmental Organization amongst others to carry out this responsibility of Mobilizing Nigerian Children and Youths towards shaping peace together.

Survey carried out by the IGP M.A Adamu Pocacov Resource Centre Enugu revealed that most children/youths that usually get involved in cultism, Thuggery, Violence, Substance Abuse and other vices, do so due to lack of enough sensitization, Awareness Creation, Advocacy and Re orientation and this are the areas of Coverage of Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices(POCACOV). 

The Module is cutting across Sex Education Programm(S.E.P) as well as emphasis on the restorations of cultural values and the strong African tradition which stipulates that Eevery Child is Everybody’s Child irrespective of whether they are the biological parents or not as this enables exercise of strict supervision  of Children and Youths.
