The Federal Government has assured on continuous investments in building capacity and capability of the Armed Forces towards tackling insecurity in parts of the Country .
President Muhammadu Buhari made this commitment in a message to the graduation ceremony of Course 42 of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Jaji Military Cantonment, Kaduna State.
Buhari who was represented at the Ceremony by the Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Salihi Magashi (rtd) as Special Guest of Honour, expressed satisfaction that the grooming of the Middle level manpower in the Military is receiving ‘The Force Multiplier boost’ at a time when the country is combating low Intensity Conflict occasioned by non-state actors.
Consequently, he tasked the graduands to raise the bar of Counter-Insurgency and Anti- banditry war on deployments to the theatres of operation.
President Buhari while acknowledging the exploit of the Nigerian Military in Peace Support Operations, at global and Regional levels commended the efforts trajectory of the security agencies especially the fighting forces in mitigating COVID-19 pandemic in the Country.
Earlier, the Commandant AFCSC Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Sadiq Liman statutorily admited the graduands into the league of Officers entitled to adorn the prestigious emblem of Pass Staff Course, Psc award, for successfully completing the 48 weeks of academic, physical and combatant drillings to attain the professional level of competence.
He said the graduands who are Majors and its equivalent in other Services are good to take up higher responsibility in the onerous task of National Defence architecture noting, “They are proficiently equipped and qualified to carry out any assigned task to accomplish National Security Aspirations of promoting peace and to end insurgency, banditry and other criminalities facing the nation”.
Highlights of the graduation event were presentation of Certificates and awards to the graduands who distinguished themselves in learning and character including the Pen of Merit won by Sqn Leader KO Eze, NAF/3006.
Thereafter, the Governor of Kaduna State Mallam Nasiru El-Rufai, Chief of Defence Staff, General Abayomi Olonisakin, Service Chiefs and members of the Diplomatic Corps joined the Defence minister in the commissioning of the ‘Hall of Fame’ edifice constructed by the by Mr. President’s representative.
AFCSC is a joint Service Institution established on 29 May,1976 to train Tactical and Operationl level Officers to effectively accomplish the Constitutional Roles of The Armed Forces of Nigeria.
