President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday, January 15, 2021 led many other top government functionaries, including Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Service Chiefs and members of the Diplomatic Corps to honour the nation’s fallen heroes and veterans.
The event which involved laying of wreaths at the National Arcade, was one of the highlights lined up to celebrate the Armed Forces Remembrance Day 2021.
Those laid wreaths were President zMuhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chief Justice of Nigeria, Minister of Defence and Minister of FCT.
They were followed by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Abayomi Olonisakin, Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Tukur Buratai, Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok Ibas, Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar,
Others were members of the Diplomatic Corps, representatives of the Nigerian Legion and widows of deceased military personnel led by Mrs Ladi Umar.
President Buhari thereafter signed the anniversary register and released the ceremonial pigeons as a sign of peace and unity.
Earlier, on January 8, 2021 Jumat service was held at the National Mosque and Christian Inter-denomination Service held at the National Christian Center on 10, January 2021.
