Again, Delta Police Command rescue kidnap victim in Warri, arrest kidnapper after shootout with gang, recover weapons & ammunition.

Crack operatives of the Delta State Police Command on Saturday busted a kidnapping gang terrorizing Warri and environs when they engaged the gang in a shootout at PTI road, Effurun, hitting one on the leg and arresting him while three gang members escaped.

However, the kidnapped victim in their midst, one Mr. Eze Mbamalu Eke was rescued unhurt and his Toyota Venza car earlier snatched was recovered.

Delta State Police Commissioner, CP Hafiz Inuwa who confirmed the shootout, noted that firearms and ammunition recovered at the scene included one AK 47 rifle with breech no. 532681,  2 AK 47 magazines with 18 rounds of live ammunition and 2 locally made pistols with 5 live cartridges which were abandoned by the suspects.

Giving details, the Police said, “On Saturday 20th June 2020, at about 12 noon, one Mrs Ifaoma Eze Eugene of no. 32 Mbamalu Close, off Jakpa road, Warri, reported that that about 11.45am, her husband Eze Mbamalu Eke was abducted by gunmen along Aka avenue, off Jakpa road, Warri and taken away along with his Toyota Venza SUV Jeep with reg no. GWA 954 AZ.

 “Consequently, an anti- crime patrol team from Ekpan division was swiftly deployed into action and went after the suspected kidnappers. The patrol team eventually intercepted the hoodlums at PTI road by Robinson Plaza, Warri.

“During the ensuing shootout with the kidnap gang, a member of the gang was shot on the leg and arrested while three others edcaped.

“The kidnapped victim, Mr. Eze Eugene was successfully rescued unhurt and his Toyota Venza SUV Jeep was recovered

Continuing the Police said the arrested kidnapping suspect, Ufuoma Francis, of Ekpan Community, Uvwie LGA has confessed to the crime and is safely in Police custody.

The Police added that investigation is ongoing and efforts are being made to track down the fleeing suspect and other members of the gang.
