2 Kidnappers Killed as Kogi Police Foil Armed Robbery Operation in Idah

Following a gun duel that ensured when Police operatives supported by Joint Task Force, Navy and NSCDC personnel confronted a criminal gang, two of the armed robbers/kidnappers were killed in Idah.

Making the disclosure in Lokoja, DSP William  Ovye Aya said, Spokesman of Kogi Police Command said, “Consequent upon a distress call that some hoodlums suspected to be cultists, led by notorious kidnapper, one Onucha Opia and his gang which includes one Danlami Shuaibu and one Aminu Opia among others both of Ifah LGA, blocked Bishop  road junction, Idah, the DPO of Idah, CSP Ibrahim Jaoro mobilized officers to the scene.

“The mobilized team included officers of the Joint Task Force Nigerian Navy, and Civil Defence personnel who engaged the hoodlums in a gun battle that forced them to flee with bullet wounds.

” One locally made gun with 4 expended cartridges was recovered at the scene while the footprints of the hoodlums were trailed and the duo of Onucha Opia and Danlami Shuaibu were found dead along Ona road and old Union bank junction respectively.

“Meanwhile their corpses were removed to the general hospital morgue while efforts are on to arrest Aminu Opia and other members of the gang.”
