Kaduna killings: Primate wants FG’s probe.

The Primate of All Nigeria Anglican Communion, Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh at the weekend called on the federal government to investigate and prosecute those responsible for the barbaric attacks in several Christian communities in Southern part of Kaduna State.

Okoh made the appeal during celebration of the 2016 Carnival for Christ, organized during the weekend, by the Abuja Diocese of the Anglican Communion to mark its 27th anniversary.

He also called for increased security across the nation, describing the spate of killings in Southern Kaduna as embarrassing to the nation.

He said the renewed killings perpetrated by a faceless group or murderers were a mark of the federal government’s inability to rise to the essence of governance which, according to him, is the protection of the people.

“The government is responsible for the protection of the people. That is the essence of governance. So, I call on the leadership of the country to bear in mind that protecting the people from external and internal aggressors is the reason people voted for them. So they should rise to that mandate and protect the people,” he said.

The Primate said that the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, was worried that the government was not doing enough, which was why the association requested, through its President, Rev. Samson Ayokunle, that President Muhammadu Buhari redouble his efforts towards ending the incessant killings.

He insisted that the killings were not only unacceptable, “We (Nigerians) cannot continue to have these incidences repeat themselves over and over again.
