The Western Port Authority Police Command and Railway’s Police Command have both reiterated strong commitment to securing national/government assets as part of efforts towards promoting effective inter-modal system of transportation.
This commitment of both commands came to the fore on Thursday when the Commissioner of Police in Charge Western Port Authority, Mr. Jonathan Towuru received his counterparts from the Railway Command , Mrs Yetunde Longe in his office.
CP Longe paid working visit to the Lagos Ports Complex (LPC) as part of efforts to synergize and ensure adequate security of government assets and other transport infrastructure.
Towuru emphasized that cooperation between the two commands was key in furtherance to ensuring prosecution of some railway cases, noting that with the rail linkage to Apapa Port and Lilypond terminals Ijora respectively , there was need for both commands to complement each others’ operations.
“We are trying to see how the inter-modal system of transportation will fully key into government policies. It is a good visit and very soon we all shall see positive results from this collaboration,” CP Towuru assured.
The CP said there was need for the collaboration with the Port Authority Command as national assets must be secured and protected from vandals and other criminal elements.
She said the railway command is located inside host commands adding that 25 states have the presence of the peculiar command, hence the courtesy visit.
Longe added that the Minister of Transportation was working assiduously to ensure that all rail lines are protected and secured from vandals and bandits attack .
