War on Terror: MNJTF Commander seeks more training for joint operations, synergy & collaboration

The Force Commander (FC), Multinational Joint Task force (MNJTF), Major General Abdul Khalifah Ibrahim has disclosed that enhanced training, synergy and collaboration remain’s the panacea to defeating the myriad of security challenges bedeviling the nation.

General Ibrahim made this disclosure while delivering a Keynote address at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Department of Land Warfare/Land Forces Operations Seminar 2022, where he was the Special Guest of Honour.

Delivering a lecture titled “Counter Insurgency Joint Operations: The Multinational Joint Taskforce in Perspective”, 

Gen Ibrahim gave a synopsis and historical background of the MNJTF while major operations and other activities of the Force were also brought out. 

He said,”Operations remain the best test of a troop’s fighting spirit. Good training and physical skills are essential elements in the life of a soldier.

Gen Ibrahim said a lot of challenges are faced in the conduct of multinational joint task operation noting, “As a result of the diverse operational environment, the students of the senior course 44 need to learn a lot in case they are deployed for operations in such environments..

He charged the students to be diligent in discharging their duties when deployed to the field, noting that the lecture was part of the preparations to make them very versatile officers in the future.

He added that the contemporary security challenges Nigeria is facing will demand a lot from them as tactical level commanders, who would be required in the fore front in tackling these challenges.

In his remarks, the Commandant of AFCSC, AVM Olurotimi Tuwase, said the lecture was educative and would provoke the thoughts of the students saying, “Issues discussed were all insightful and informative.

The officers are trained here on the issues and possible solutions towards achieving success in the joint and multi-agency environment, they are tactical level officers, on graduation, some of them will find themselves as company commanders while others as acting battalion commanders and are likely to operate in such environments.



Dignitaries at the seminar, either as special guests or discussants include the Corps Commander Artillery, Commander Armour Corps, FC Operation Whirl Stroke, Commandant Nigerian Army School of Infantry, Commander Sector 3 MNJTF, Deputy Commandant and staff of the College among a host of other senior officers.

They gave first hand accounts of their experiences in various theaters of operations and brought out lessons that would be beneficial to the students.

The seminar which was the first in the history of the Department, has as Theme, “ Enhancing Operational Efficiency of the Nigerian Army in a Multi-Agency Environment“.
