Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo has tasked the Defence Space Administration (DSA) to come up with relevant Space and Cyber Security Solutions that will act as force multipliers and help in tackling the myriads of Security Challenges facing the country.
In this regard, the CNS charged DSA to particularly interface with the Navy’s Maritime Domain Awareness Assets, “for our mutual benefit” towards eliminating maritime criminality including oil theft, piracy and pipeline vandalisn.
Vice Admiral Gambo made the remarks during the send forth ceremony for senior officers posted out and commisioning of the Staff Canteen of Defence Space Administration Headquarters
He said, “It is gratifying that the Administration thought it fit to send forth officers that have served here in the past. This gesture is an indication of the military solidarity that exists in DSA.
“The commissioning today also fills me with pride notably because as immediate past Director of Procurement, the staff canteen was part of the projects that bear my footprint and I am glad it has been completed and furnished.
“It is a vital addition to the infrastructural assets of the DSA and will greatly enhance staff welfare. I am aware of how staff cramped in the former temporary canteen in the past and how difficult it was to get food during lunch breaks.
“The journey is only just beginning and more infrastructure is needed to enhance DSA’s ability to fulfil its mandate. I shall in due course make my modest contribution.
“The DHQ and the Services are counting on you, most especially the Nigerian Navy is counting on DSA to support military operations with relevant space and cyber solutions that will act as force multipliers. I enjoin you to interface with the Navy’s Maritime Domain Awareness assets, for our mutual benefit. I promise to support DSA in this regard in any way possible.
Noting that he was happy to be back at DSA, seeing a lot of colleagues, friends and DSA Community with whom he shared great moments with while serving there, the CNS said, “I must acknowledge my former colleagues at DSA who have moved on to higher responsibilities. I particularly congratulate AVM UP Uzezi the DG DRDB, Maj Gen OF Azinta the Chief of Training, AHQ and AVM MN Madi the Air Secretary.
“Having worked closely with these senior officers, it is easy to conclude that their meritorious service to DSA was valued by the hierarchy of the Armed Forces of Nigeria causing them to be selected to hold such strategic offices.
“My special thanks go to the DSA community for their sustained prayers for the Nation at this challenging moment. By the grace of the Almighty we shall overcome.”
In has address,Special Guest and immediate Pasta Chief of Defence Space Administration,Major General Emmanuel Whyte (rtd) disclosed that the Defence Space Canteen was a criticsl addition to the welfare needs of the administration and would help ease the burden of Staff who have has to travel long distances to get Good in the past.
“The Canteen is a demonstration of the Administration”s resolved to improve Staff welfare and enhance productivity. As the immediate past CDSA, I am proud that my sucessor has upped the tempo in ensuring the speedy completion of the projects that started under my watch” he said.
“This attests’ to the integrity and commitment of the leadership of the administration towards emplacing a conducive work environment for Staff and personnel of DSA.
In his welcome address, the Chief of Defence Space Administration, Rear Admiral William Kayoda disclosed that the send forth was to specially appreciate former staff who has meritoriously served their tenure in DSA but were not formerly sent forth owing to Service exigencies at the time.
“A number of former staff are now holding key strategic appointments’ with the former Director of Procurement, Vice Admiral AZ Gambo assuming office as the 21st indeginous Chief of the Naval Staff.
“We are indeed delighted to be hosting theformer staff for their meritorious Service in advancing the goal of a robust Defence Space architecture that would enhance military operations” the CDSA added.
