A former Senator representing Okigwe Senatorial District in Imo State, Senator Nneji Athan-Achonu on Wednesday donated two Hilux vans to the FCT Command of the Nigerian Police Force towards enhancing the fight against crime and criminality in Abuja.
Senator Achonu who is the Chairman of Namo Farms LTD disclosed that he was moved towards the gesture because of the great job the Police in FCT was doing in tackling the activities of armed robbers, car snatchers, house burglars and other criminal elements noting it has made FCT one of the safest cities in Nigeria.
He added that the donation of the vehicles was also a way of keying into the community policing strategy of the police force and a fulfillment of the social responsibility duties of Namo Farms.
The Hilux Vans were later presented to the Divisional Police Officers for Like division, CSP UA Sambo and Divisional Police Officer for Maitama division, CSP Umar Yakubu.
Speaking before handing over the keys to the DPOs, FCT Police Commissioner, Bala Ciroma expressed happiness over the donation of the Hilux vans noting that it will assist greatly in efforts at tackling crime in the Federal capital city.
