The former Army Headquarters Garrison Commander in Abuja, Maj Gen James Gwaza Khalifa Myam on Wednesday 22 July 2020, took over command as the new Commander, Nigerian Army Artillery Corps
At a ceremony which took place at the Headquarters of the Corps of Artillery, Kontagora,Niger State. Maj Gen Myam congratulated his predecessor for a successful tour of duty and promised to sustain the giant stride he achieved.
He prayed that the sucesses he achieved will be greater in his new office as the Chief of Administration Army.
Earlier, the immediate past Commander Corps of Artillery, Maj Gen Usman Shehu Yakubu pointed at the giant stride the corps of artillery has acheived in the area of research and development which include development of fire control equipment and modification of artillery guns, urging the new Chief Vulcan to maintain the tempo.
Maj Gen Yakubu thanked officers and men of the corps for their zeal, commitment and loyalty during his tenure and enjoined them to extend same to the new Commander noting, ”I urge you to support the new Commander to carry the corps to a greater height, I will always have the corps at my heart”
Major Gen JGK Myam is a seasoned senior artillery officer who has had a distinguished career. Prior to his recent appointment, he was the immediate past Commander, Army Headquarters Garrison Abuja.
Highpoints of the event were the symbolic signing of handing and taking over notes, decoration of the new Commander with corps insignia, handing over of command flag and lowering and hoisting of flags.
The ceremony was witnessed by the Commander 31 Brigade, Brig Gen JAL Jimoh, outgoing Chief of Staff Brig Gen BR Sinjen, Directors and Staff officers of Headquarters Nigerian Army Corps of Artillery.
