Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, CP Edgal Imohimi, has ordered the arrest of one Tolu Olaoye, a lawyer, over torture and violent abuse of her house help, 15-year-old Abigail Opebiyi.
The Spokesman of the Police Command, SP Chike Oti, confirming the arrest on Friday, disclosed that the suspect carried out the offence at No. 5, El Shaddai Crescent, near Unique Estate, Baruwa, Ipaja area of Lagos.
Oti said the suspect, who was in the habit of abusing the house help, inflicted on her serious injury, which attracted the attention of the Police boss, who ordered her immediate arrest.
“The CP Lagos, known for his prompt action on all issues concerning domestic violence and abuse was moved with compassion on seeing the picture of the victim trending on the internet with a deep cut on little Miss Abigail’s forehead.
“The cut was allegedly inflicted on her by the said female lawyer Tolu Olaoye.
“He immediately ordered operatives of the command to rescue the victim and fish out the suspect.
“This order was carried out diligently and the suspect is now undergoing interrogation at the Gender Section of the Police Command in the state.
“The suspect will be charged to court on Monday,” SP Oti said.
