FCP Police Commissioner, CP Bala Ciroma has assured residents, foreigners and the business community in Abuja the Police Command would continue to emplace measures aimed at checkmating criminal gangs and busting their nefarious activities towards ensuring peace and stability.
CP Ciroma gave this assurance at the commissioning ceremony of the new MOPOL 50 PMF Transit Camp donated the Mai Foundation and Funab Projects Limited at Kubwa, Abuja on Thursday, March 18, 2021.
Disclosing that the construction and donation of the Transit Camp is in line with the concept of community policing projected by by the Inspector General of Police, Adamu Abubakar, CP Ciroma said the President and Founder of Mai Foundation, Alhaji Mohammed Ajia Ibrahim has shown himself to be a true policeman (though retired).
“He said, “We cannot over – emphasize the fact that security is everybody’s business. Therefore, the generous donation of a standard and well furnished transit Camp at 50 PMF to accommodate police personnel by the Mohammed Ibrahim Ajia (MAI) Foundation and Funab Projects LTD as a form of corporate social responsibility is indeed laudable.
“It resonates the common saying that ‘Security is our collective responsibility’s. It is worthy of note that these same organizations consistently supported the Nigerian Police Force with palliatives during the peak of the COVID 19 pandemic”.
While appreciating the Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim Ajia for the generosity and Goodwill extended towards the NPF particularly the FCT Command, CP Ciroma prayed that Almighty God will replenish his resources bundantly.
Furthermore he said, “I want to use this opportunity to appreciate the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu for his unflinching support towards the Command and call on well-meaning citizens to inspect positively on Nigeria Police Force.
In his address at the ceremony, Alhaji Mohammed Ajia, founder of MAI Foundation said, “Mai foundation and Funab Projects LTD came up with this Transit Camp based on our commitment to continue to support the Nigeria Police Force especially the welfare of the officers and men.
“Nigeria today is facing security challenges, we must commend the officers and men of the Nigeria Police for great job done this far, despite the dwindling resources available to them.
“While I commend the federal government on their various effort, especially the establishment of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, I want to urge the government to ensure the effective Management of the body in a way that would reflect in the operation and welfare of the officers and men of the Nigerian Police Force.
Continuing, Ajia said, ” I want to appeal to the federal government to increase the funding of the Nigeria Police Force, improve welfare packages especially the pension scheme of the Nigeria Police Force. It should be holistically reviewed such that the Nigeria Police Force would have an independent pension scheme.
He called on individuals, corporate bodies and other stakeholders to support the Nigeria Police Force in the fight against criminals and criminality adding, “There is need to improve police and community relationship, especially on vital information sharing. However, the officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force must also operate in a way that would restore confidence in the public and build better cooperation.
On his part, the Commander, MOPOL 50 PMF, Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Hayatu Shaffa expressed appreciation to MAI Foundation and Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim Ajia for donating the fully furnished Transit Comp.
ACP Shaffa recalled that during the peak period of the COVID 19 pandemic enforce duties based on the federal government directives, MAI Foundation supported the police by providing food and other necessities free of charge as part of it’s palliative measures to assist the police.
Highlight of the occasion was the planting of trees at the MOPOL 50 PMF headquarters by the FCT Commissioner of Police, supported by dignitaries including renowned music ICON, Mr. Dapo Oyebanjo aka De banj who was visibly elated by the generosity of Alhaji Mohammed Ajia saying that it will greatly boost morale of Police personnel.
