Buratai throws support Joint Operation Centre’s with Police.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General, Tukur Buratai has thrown given his support to a plan by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, to set up Joint Operation Centre’s (JOCs) across the country with the military across the country.
Making this known Monday when he received IGP Ibrahim Idris at the Army Headquarters in Abuja, Buratai said, “The Joint Operations Centre is a very good concept. If pursued we are going to have effective operations that will produce very, very effective results in pursuance of national security and defence goals.”
He said the Joint Operations Centers should have a representation from the Force Headquarters and at State Commands headquarters, which is vital in coordination of various security efforts.
Continuing Buratai said, “It is a welcome development and the army will join you, even today, we have officers ready and trained to work with you to ensure our operations are coordinated.”
“We are going to give you full support, we all know the Police are the lead agency in internal security operations, this is recognized by the Nigeria army and we will continue to give you support,” he added.
Earlier in his remarks, IGP Idris said plans were ongoing to establish a Joint Operations Centre at the Headquarters of Police Commands in the 36 states of the Federation.
He noted that Centre will create continuous collaboration and dialogue with the army and other security agencies on a daily basis to address various security challenges in the country.
