Bandits raids Another School in Niger State, Kidnap 200 students

At least 200 students of an Islamiyya school located at Tegina in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State have been kidnapped.

A report on Al Jazeera confirmed the abduction of the students.

Sundry media reports said that one person was shot dead in the aftermath of the raid.

One other person is said to be lying critically injured consequent upon the kidnap operation which was carried out about 4:30pm on Sunday.

A resident of the area Zayyad Mohammed confirmed the incident to Channels Television via telephone.

According to him, the Salihu Tanko Islamiyya school where the incident took place, was built by a retired Immigration Officer.

Details of the attack were scanty as of the time of publication, but sources said that the Islamiyya school was not the usual Sangaya boarding Islamic school, but a conventional one.

Official response by the Police is still being awaited.
