As part of activities schedule for the Combined Passing Out Parade of Cadets of the Nigeria Defence Academy of 66 Regular Course, SSC 45 Army and 67 Regular Course Navy and Air Force on 5th October 2019, the Academy held its prize giving day and beating of retreat on Tuesday 24th September 2019.
The Mogadishu Battalion emerged the overall winners at the prize giving ceremony and received the trophy from the GOC 1 division, Nigerian Army, Major General Yahaya, who was one of the special guest of honour.
The event which held at the Afaka Parade Ground, NDA attracted dignitaries, including the Chief of Defence Policy and Plans, Defence headquarters, Air Vice Marshal Nurudeen A. Balogun.
A total of 12 trophies including the Overall Best Batallion, were won by Mogadishu Battalion.
Other battalions that participated in the beating of retreat were Dalet Batallion winner in Cross Country, Abyssina Batalion winner in Athletics, Interior-Economy, Mogadishu Battalion winner of Obstacle Crossing, Shooting, among others.
The Indian Shield Award which is presented to best passing out cadet in common subject related to service was received by best cadets from Army, Navy and Air Force in gold, silver and bronze medals, three from each category.
Awards were also presented to cadets who distinguished themselves in various sporting activities for male and female categories including awards for Athletics, volleyball, handball, football, basketball badminton, judo, wrestling, boxing, swimming, cross country and skill at arms.
Sword of Honour for best Cadet in Short Service went to Cadet H.P. Yushau.
