Chairperson of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), Kaduna chapter, Mrs Salamatu Yahaya, has appealed to the Governments, various non-governmental Associations and wealthy individuals to accord more priority to the less privileged in the society, so as to give them sense of belonging.
She made the appeal on Thursday during a visit to some orphanages, where she donated various food items and other relief materials in Kaduna.
Mrs Yahaya, who made the donations on behalf of the NAOWA Kaduna Chapter, said the visit to the homes was part of the association’s philanthropic lines of activities for the second quarter of the year 2019.
She said that the gesture was informed by the association’s objective of reaching out and giving succour and uplift to the less privileged and needy.
“With adequate resources at our disposal, such gesture would be replicated to widows of our fallen heroes in the barracks”, she said.
The homes visited by the NAOWA Chairperson include: Jam’iyyar Matan Arewa Orphanage, Magajin Gari Orphanage, and Faith Works Orphanage Ministry in Kaduna metropolis.
The items donated include 15 bags of Rice, three bags of millet, three bags of Guinea Corn, three bags of Sugar and six cartons of Milk.
Others are; six package of detergent, three cartons of soap, six jerry cans of vegetable oil and bed sheets.
The the items were shared equally among the three orphanage homes.
Responding on behalf of other Homes’ Coordinators, the Co-ordinator of Jam’iyyar Matan Arewa Orphanage, Hajiya Maryam Tahir, expressed gratitude to the Association for the care, concerns and noble gesture, adding that it would remain indelible in their hearts and items will be judiciously used for the benefits of the kids in the Homes.
