SAMBISA: TROOPS INTERCEPT, KILL SCORES OF FLEEING BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS AT PULKA.
Following sustained the Military’s air and land bombardment of Boko Haream Camps inside Sambisa Forest, scores of fleeing members of the terrorists gang fleeing the onslaught through one of the exit routes of the vast forest, have met their waterloo at the hands of Nigerian troops at Pulka.
During the bombardments, some of the arms cache of the terrorists group including grenades, Shilka gun shells (Shilka is a dreaded weapon used by the Nigerian Army Artillery Corp) and several ammunition for GPMG guns and AK 47 rifles were recovered.
Giving further details of the arrest of the terrorists, Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman said, “Fleeing Boko Haram terrorists attempting to escape from military onslaught in Sambisa forest, through Pulka were intercepted and decisively dealt with by troops in blocking position in the area.
“During the encounter many of the terrorists were killed while one was captured alive.
“The troops also recovered a General Purpose Machine Gun, several rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunitions, 47 rifle magazines, 36 hand grenades and quite a number of Shilka gun empty shells.
“In a related development, troops have also dealt another decisive blow to the Boko Haram terrorists at Buni Yadi general area yesterday day afternoon. At an encounter, the troops recovered a Toyota Hilux, 2 boxes of 7.62mm ammunitions and some Improvised Explosive making Devices cords.”
Recall that Nigerian military on Sunday commenced air and land strikes deep inside Sambisa forest which is believed to be holding the remaining strong point of the Boko Haram terrorists.
Towards this end, various units of the Army’s Special Forces have advanced deep into the forest clearing most of the camps therein, rescuing scores of persons held captive, arresting some terrorists and destroying most of their weapons and equipment.
In the ensuing onslaught so for, the military have destroyed about 15 heavily fortified camps, killing scores of terrorists’ and weaponry belonging to the group and rescuing scores of abducted captives including women, girls and children.
