NEW YEAR CELEBRATIONS: IGP ORDERS WATER-TIGHT SECURITY NATIONWIDE.
In his effort to ensure a secure, peaceful and hitch-free nation-wide New Year celebration, the IGP, Solomon Arase has directed all Zonal AIGs and State Command Commissioners of Police to ensure an effective and efficient deployment of all operational manpower and tools at the disposal of their respective Commands.
The IGP further directed the AIG in charge Border Patrol to ensure that the nation’s borders are effectively manned to prevent any cross-border crime.
A statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Acting ACP Olabisi Kolawole said said, “Against the backdrop of security challenges in the country and the general preparation for the New Year Celebrations, the Nigeria Police High Command urged worshippers both at Jummat and Church services to take adequate measures to reduce the number of vehicles around these hallowed worship centers.
“The Force equally advises operators of Motor Parks, Shopping Malls and Recreational Centers to work very closely with the Police and other security agencies as they strive to strengthen general security in their respective facilities.
“The IGP saluted the courage and gallantry of officers of the Force for their tireless services in protecting lives and property during the year.
“The IGP further charged Police personnel to continue to be civil in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities.
“He, however, warns that officers found acting contrary to the Force’s “vision and mission” will be appropriately sanctioned.
While wishing all Nigerians a very blissful and peaceful New Year Celebrations, the IGP assured the public of the Nigeria Police Force readiness and commitment towards ensuring a safe and secure environment.
IGP Arase used the opportunity to on behalf of the entire officers of the Nigeria Police Force, heartily felicitate with good people of Nigeria as ‘we celebrate the New Year 2016.’
